We started this website shortly after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in an effort to show solidarity for the businesses that were struggling to come back. It has been gratifying to watch the listings grow, understanding that each addition represented a business that had beaten the odds.
Now, 4 and a half years later, there are more restaurants in New Orleans than there were before the storm, and the Saints are Super Bowl champs. It is with the utmost respect for New Orleanians that we have decided to retire this website in April, 2010 because it is no longer needed as a transitional tool. There will always be challenges, but even in the midst of a national recession, New Orleans has succeeded beyond many expectations, and has every reason to hold her head high.
